On February 27, 1992, Southwest took delivery of its twenty-first 737-5H4, N524SW. For over 26 years this nimble little Boeing proved herself over and over again with long haul and short haul flights. During her later years she, as well as the rest of the quickly aging 500 fleet, would be assigned to a more local market surrounding Southwest’s home state of Texas with occasional flights to longer haul states. But it was eventually decided that the 500 fleet had to go. The retirement date for N524SW was now slated for September 4, 2016.
